My Dad and Mom , raised a family of six .at times they both had jobs
Mom worked with the very first computers, at places like Minnesota Federal , where I got a little tour . I saw stacks of punch cards , that were read as programming or something
She also worked at a place in Minneapolis fixing computer bugs.
Quite often Mom would bring home large stacks of tractor paper ( homework ) looking for problems
Remember the tune , Bird is a word ? By the trash man ? Well ,that guy , worked with my mom , on computers
My Dad ( who was blind ) had to learn Braille as a preteen
He tried the realty business, then another blind man, taught him , the art of massage
Dad worked a lot at this and became THE BEST IN THE AREA He worked at the , Saint Paul Athletic Club , Dad got to work on St. Paul’s elite
When the golfer Jack Nicklaus came to town , my Dad was the guy he went to.
They worked Dad really hard at the club , he would collapse on the couch after work and say a number = the clients he had that day
It was fun to see Dad in the winter carnival , the Athletic club was in the parade , doing the blanket toss.
He got a great job with 3M and spent the rest of his career there , working for the top executive’s there
My life took many turns, not giving up at really knowing ,is,part of personal inventory , reaching out, through, my recollections , makes me feel that , at least my first person perspective is more valid than , say , gossip.
I have suffered from mental health issues my entire life .
I don’t believe in labels ( diagnostic guesswork ) I have traumatic brain damage, and have seen other labels put on me , in , medical records
In grade school , they tested me and in many years , I was put in S L D programs. ( not at Linwood Elementary ).
Sever asthma ( that manifested when I was eight years old ) kept me out of serving in the military
I worked all of my life = some years there was four or more W 2’s to file .
I continued to work ( and volunteer) after getting SSDI in 2004 and still do.
