I had no idea of the word no ,

No I won’t donate my bone marrow.

Why did I say that ?

I was late teens ? Early 20’s ?

I even met the person at a dinner party

Given at a place on the St Croix near 94.

I guess I didn’t know the gravity,

I guess the question was asked casually,

AFTER

A trip to the Red Cross

J didn’t mention that

I was being profiled ,

J didn’t bring up that

his aunt that was in need of.

A life saving donation

I really can’t remember why I refused to donate my bone marrow .

I believe the gravity of the situation was lost on me ,

If I had known for real ,

How important the need was ,

I’m sure, I would have said yes !

The person needing the life saving donation was a really vibrant, , of course lovable probably the coolest offspring of that ) beautiful woman .

I had NO IDEA THAT HER LIFE WAS IN MY HANDS !

It was a long time ago 1970’s?

I’m talking about the families that are not

These people ( that my parents decided to next to )

I will always be ok with giving blood and such .
